Venue Team Top of the Nation

06 Dec 2018

International Convention Sydney (ICC Sydney) has taken home the highly coveted Best Venue Team at the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia’s (EEAA) Awards for Excellence for the team’s delivery of the Australian Woodworking Industry Suppliers Association (AWISA) Exhibition in July this year.

Held at the venue last night, the awards recognise the exceptional work of organisers, association organisers, venues and suppliers in the exhibition and events industry.

Hosted at ICC Sydney for the very first time, the delivery of AWISA required building the equivalent of five woodworking factories, including highly sensitive, robotic, large-scale and potentially dangerous equipment, under one roof and within eight days. The complex event delivery involved a vast number of ICC Sydney team members from across a range of departments.

The 2018 event saw a 16% increase in attendance from 2016, with 34% of visitors returning for a second or third time.

CEO of ICC Sydney, Geoff Donaghy said the highly successful execution of AWISA showcased the skills of the venue’s experienced, talented and solutions-focused team, all backed by a ‘can-do’ culture.

“ICC Sydney believes in working hand-in-hand with clients and all involved in the delivery of event.

“AWISA is a fine example of the skills and collaborative approach our team applies to all of the events we have delivered since opening in December 2016. We are immensely proud of this great achievement and thank the AWISA team for placing their trust in us to deliver the highly complex event,” Donaghy said.

NSW Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Victor Dominello said this award is testament to ICC Sydney’s hard working and dedicated team who work tirelessly to deliver world class events.

“ICC Sydney has truly placed Sydney on the map as Australia’s number one location for business events and exhibitions. Behind every successful event is an energetic and passionate team who work around the clock to ensure the venue remains a world leading destination,” Dominello said.
