CEO Update – February 2023

06 Mar 2023

ICC Sydney strives to fulfill our mission to make a difference for the event organisers, stakeholders and community members we serve with every successful event. As business events rebound evermore strongly, so do our recruitment efforts and we have continued to build upon our robust and multi-skilled workforce who are here to support organisers to deliver extraordinary events. The power of ICC Sydney’s diverse team in supporting events was shared by our Director of Human Resources, Luke Fleming.

Delivered by our diverse team of caring professionals, a highlight of ICC Sydney’s suite of world class services is the venue’s industry leading Legacy Program. To support event organisers to leave a positive legacy, the program helps to identify and deliver on key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives.

It is through our Legacy Program that we connect attendees to the best and brightest minds, to the future generation of problem solvers and to the rich culture of Australia’s First Nations people. With every Legacy Program activation, ICC Sydney partners with event organisers and works to fulfil our ambition to be more than a venue delivering outcomes that better the environment and communities around us.

In line with ICC Sydney’s commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment, we proudly hosted Sydney WorldPride’s Human Rights Conference last week. With a comprehensive event program in place, positive social impacts were a high priority for the organiser. Our team embraced the opportunity to live up to our promise to be more than a venue as we activated the Environmental Sustainability, First Nations and Generation Next streams of our Legacy Program. ICC Sydney’s accessibility services also featured prominently throughout the event delivery.

ICC Sydney’s approach to CSR is developed in line with parent group ASM Global ACTS social equity and global sustainability program as well as our commitments to the Joint Meetings Industry Council’s Net Zero Carbon Events pledge and the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia’s Sustainable Events Pledge and informs our own CSR practices.

We recently strengthened our commitment to reach net zero carbon events through our 2023 Menu Collection. Following a carbon calculation analysis for our menus, our Culinary Services team select the highest quality fresh and seasonal produce to create world class dishes that include low carbon options identified according to the estimated carbon footprint associated with the farming, harvesting, production, and transportation of ingredients.
